In 2007, I flew to Bangkok with plans to continue on to Indonesia — a country I ultimately never reached. So I ended up staying in BKK for almost two years, buying and reselling records I found here and there in that elusive and sprawling city. That’s where I discovered mo-lam, luk thung, and luk krung — genres that were barely documented at the time. Seventeen years later, I’m cleaning, one by one, the fifty or so Thai music records I held on to, rediscovering them, digitizing them, and naturally, that’s how this project began.
